Rocky Mountain WEddings

Wedding planning can be challenging and mountain weddings require more additional planning with the outdoor elements to consider. I have compiled a list of wedding tips to consider when planning your perfect Rocky Mountain wedding.

1. Pick your Season Winter: Colder Temperatures but always comes with a gorgeous snowy backdrop, it’s a winter wedding wonderland. Spring: The mountains don’t really thaw out until June. So expect cooler temperatures and winter like backdrops. Especially in the high country. If you’re on the front range this will look and feel more like a traditional spring. Summer: The mountain wild flowers are in full bloom. It’s why we are called Colorful Colorado. Fall: The aspen trees are exploding with color. There is no better time to get married in the Rockies.

2. Hunt for Discounts The different seasons offer different discounts. Some locations will have more affordable bookings during winter and spring. While ski towns will be at a premium during winter. Summer is also a high vacation season so rates are often higher. Most deals can be found during spring and fall.

3. Have a Backup Plan If you are getting married in Colorado then you are most likely planning an outdoor event, so be sure to have a backup plan. Colorado weather can be unpredictable and can change quickly. So keep your mind at peace by having a plan B.

4. Prepare out of Town Guests When planning your mountain wedding, consider your out of town guests by preparing them for the different outdoor challenges. A list of things that they will need can be incredibly helpful. Like clothing layers, sunscreen, staying hydrated, and even altitude sickness medicine.

5. Understand When to Take Your Photos Photos will be taken all day long at your wedding but there are premium times for the best light and that changes with the seasons. When planning your wedding day be aware that the sun dips behind those mountains early and quick. Be sure not to miss that golden hour of light for flawless and epic wedding photos.

6. Consider the Elevation How will you and your guest be getting up the mountain? Will grandma need a ride? A transportation plan is sometimes needed for remote mountain locations. Also consider signage for the ceremony location. Not all mountain roads are labeled and no one wants to get lost in the mountains on your wedding day.

7. Provide Hydration If your getting married in that dreamy high country mountain location, have water for your guests. This is a must and the best way for out of town guest to avoid altitude sickness.

8. Go Local Help your guests experience this amazing state by offering different local flavors at your reception. There is no shortage of breweries and distilleries available for libation at your event.

9. Colorful Colorado Provide your guest with a ’Top 10’ list of places to see, trails to hike, or breweries to check out.
